(ORDER—COLEOPTBRA.)
I HAVE represented iu tlie present Plate a series of beetles wMch, altliougli not remarkable for then'
size, especially merit tlie attention of the Entomologist for the singularity of many of their characters,
and the interest belonging to them from their position in the families of Coleopterous insects.

CuAB. GEN. Genus novum Galbai et Pterotarso in familia Eucnemidarum affine. Corpus breve, ovale. Antenna!
serratoe, in cavitatibns niai-ginalibns prosterni receptoe. Prosternum postice prodnetum raesosterni apice dilatato
roceptum ; pedes lati contractiles, tarsis 4-laminiferis.
GENERIC CUABACTER. A new genus nearest allied to Galba and Pterotarsus in the family Eucnemidse. Body short,
oval ; antenuEe serrated ; received when at rest in longitudinal caidties at the sides of the prosternum. Prosternum
produced behind and received in the dUated apex of the mesosternum. Legs broad, contractile ; tarsi with 4
lamellse.
CHAR. SR.—Galbella violaeeo-CEorulea nitida, prothorace sub lente circulariter mmute punctato ; elytris minute
pvmctatis, punctis in lineas numerosas irregulares dispositis.
Galbella -idolet-blue, glossy, the prothorax under a lens covered with minute circular punctures ; elytra also
very finely punctured ; the punctures forming many in-egular rows.
Length of the body, 21 lines. Inliabits the East Indies. In the Collection of A. Melly, Esq.

CHAR. GEN.—Genus novum, Telephoro et Malthmo m famiha Telephoridarnm affine. Corpus elongatum depressum ;
oculi magni, antennoe fihformes ; mandibulce graciles, acutoe, intus2-dentatoe; palpi omnes artioulo ultimo secm-iformi;
elytra abbreviata, apice angustato ; alte fere longitudhie abdominis ; abdomen articulo magno corneo, profimde fisso,
in utroque sexu terminatum, pedes elongati ; tai-si articulo 4to dilatato ; pedes intermedii in mare difformes,
femoribus dilatatis, curvatis, tibiisque brevibns irregularibus.
GENERIC CHARACTER.—A new Genus allied to Telephorus and Malthinus in the family Telephoridce. Body elongate ;
depressed ; eyes large, antenuse filiform ; mandibles slender, acute at the tips, internally 2-dentate ; all the palpi
with the last joint long and secraiform ; elytra very short, the tips narrowed and roimded ; wings nearly as long as
the abdomen ; abdomen teiminated m both sexes by a large horny cleft joint ; legs long ; tarsi with the 4tli joint
dilated ; middle legs in the male deformed, the thighs swoUen and cm-ved, and the tibioe short aud irregular.
Ichthyurns capite nigi-o, facie subtus, et articuhs basalibus autennarum flavis, palpis nigi-is, prothorace nigro,
lateribus late et margine tenui postico flavis ; seutello flavo ; elyti-is nigris humeris auguste, sutiu'aque late flavis,
apicibus fuscis ; abdomiue segmentis basalibus nigris flavo marginatis, apicalibus flavis, basi nigris; segmento ultimo
nigro ; alis fuscis ; pedibus fuscis, basi thms ; tibiis anticis maris curvatis setosis ; femoribus intermediis dilatatis
intus subserratis, tibiis .ante apicem intus tubercule ai-matis, pedibus foeminoe simplicibus.
Ichthyurus with the head black, the lower part of the face and basal joints of the antennce yellow, palpi black,
prothorax black, the sides broader, and the hind margin narrowly margined with yellow ; scutellum yellow ;
elytra with the shoulders narrowly and"'the suture broadly yellow, the tips brown; wings bro\ra ; abdomen with the
basal segments black, edged with yellow, the apical ones yellow, black at the base; terminal joint black ; legs
brown, yellow at the base, anterior tibioe of the male curved and setose ; nitermediate femora dilated, subserrated
beneath ; tibire with a tnbcrcle near the apex on the inside, legs of female simple.
Length of the insect, 4 lines. Inhabits the Island of Java. In Mus. Westwood.
OBSERVATION.—B o t h sexes of this very interesting species have been kindly communicated to me
with other valuable insects by M. Westermaun of Copenhagen.

Ichthyurus capite nigro, facie flava, autennis nigris basi flavis ; prothorace nigro opaco, mai'gine postico aureo,

intermediis nigro-bimaculatis, segmento ultimo nigro ; alis costa pallide fusca ; metasterno mgro, pedibus fuscis,

Ichthyurus with the head black, opaque ; the face between the base of the antennaj and mouth yellow ; antemioe
black, with the first and second joints yellow ; prothorax black, opaque, very closely and densely punctm-ed under a
lens with a raised polished longitudinal carina beyond the middle, and a row of punctui'es wdthin the front margin,
