About a dozen instances of the occurrence of this
American species have been recorded, most of them in
places in our southern counties. It is not known to
have occurred on continental Europe.
In America, its true home, it breeds abundantly in
the Arctic Regions and after that season migrates southwards
to spread over nearly the whole of Central and
South America, reaching Cape Horn and the Falkland
Islands. [0. S.]
