This bird is virtually omnivorous; the Andalucian
herdsmen and shepherds declare that the young birds,
during their first summer, subsist almost entirely upon
insect-food; but hardly any green thing comes amiss to
them, and besides vegetable food of all sorts, they will
greedily devour mice, small birds, frogs, lizards, snails,
small fishes, and earthworms.
