Mus. Parisiensi,
Kiis is the species figured by Desmarest and YieiUot as the true
musica, and considered by mè in my oÿnopsis of this genus, givep in
the 1 Contributions to Ornithology/ for 18§4, to be that bird in an
immature state. But on an examination of Desmarest’s-types in the
Paris Museum, I agree with Prince-Bonaparte (who has done. - me
the honour to call this species ÉT.sclateri) that it is apparently
distinct.
A specimen of the female of this bird in the Derby Museum at
Liverpool hears the^ label. ’‘‘-Tanagra flavifrons, Lathajn;” and as
Latham’s description and Sparman’s figure^ agree sufficiently4 well
with it, and this specimen is probably the type of Latham’s description,
I feel bound to employ th e term flavifrons as thelijst-given
appellation _of this Euphonia.
