GENERIC CHARACTER.
Calix 3-leaved, spreading. Corolla of three petals. Filaments and terminal anthers
adnate, opening on the inner side. Styles none. Stigmas three, distinct, or
approximate. Berry 3-celled, cells many-seeded.
SPECIFIC CHARACTER.
Peduncle recurved ; petals lanceolate-acuminate, flat, reflected, as long as the calix ;
leaves dilated, rhomboidal, abruptly acuminate, on short petioles. Pursh.
