This noble fpecies is figured in a refting pofition on a flower o f the DouUe variegated Japan Rtfe, a
fcarce variety o f the Camellia Japónica. I t is one o f the many magnificent natural produdtions o f Am-
boyna, and is extremely rare.
The fuppofed female o f this in fe d is also confidered as the female o f Papilio Priamus; it is a gigantic
creature, being ftill larger than the butterfly reprefented, but it is lefs beautiful, and the general colour
an obfcure reddilh brown.
