The KMnoouios nornbiU is pretty gmorally distributed throughout the Malayan pcuiusula,
aud is also found in Sumatra and Borneo. The upturned casque renders it very eonspieuous, and
eauses the bird to diiter from all the members ot the tami ly-so mueh so that I haTO retamed it,
with its neat relative from Java, as the representatives of Linnajus's gonus K««™«, and restricted
that term in this work to this form. Sehlegel has separated the birds from Sumatra and Borneo
as raees or co») )««« of the M a y a n species, one of the characters being the width of the bkek
hand on the tail. I find that this band yaries yery much in different specimens, even from the
