fpecies of this genus, much refembling our plant in flower, but nothmg m the leaf; ,t .s known by
t L name of L patens, and has been frequently told for this, but .ts fcent .s qu.te d.fFerent, and it
flowers much earlier; that is to fay, in the month of March, but the L. fragrans does not produce
its bloffoms till May. It is a very hardy greenhoufe bulb, and requires no particular manapment to
make it flower; this, however, it does not do, but once in two years; not even appearmg in foliage,
but in the fécond year from its flowering. Our figure was made at the Hammerfmith Nurfery, to
wl,ich it was introduced, from the Cape of Good Hope, in the year 1798.
