EMPALEMENT. Cup one leaf, coloured; tube
top-lhaped, rather flattened, iicdiy : perman
e n t ; border half five-cleft; fegments eggihaped,
concave, blunt, upright, equal.
BLOSSOM. Five petals, placed on Ihe tube of
the cup, oblong, concave, blunt, upright,
equal, lying over each other at the (ides,
fitting, twice as long as the fegments of the
cop.
CHIVES. Ten threads, awl-fliaped, upright, a
little longer than the petals, inferted in a
ring into the tube of the cup. Tips oblong,
laying on the threads.
POINTAL. Seed-bud oblong; flattened, with a
foot-iialk. Shaft ihread-fliaped, the length
of the chives. Summit fimple, blunt.
SEED-VESSEL. A pod wi t h a foot-ftalk.
SEEDS two, bony, a little egg-lliaped, large.
