Fructification of two kinds, on distinct individuals; 1, convex tubercles
{coccidia), having a thick, cellular pericarp, and containing a
mass of minute spores, on a central placenta; 3, tetraspores, either
zoned or tripa rtite, imbedded among the ceUs of the surface, scattered

broadly wedge-shaped, irregularly cleft, palmate, or dicliotomous,
sometimes repeatedly laciniate ; th e margin flat and even, sometimes
winged with leaflets; granules distributed over the whole frond in
cloud-like spots.
