Mr. Latham favored: us with an account o f it ; he fuppofes it to
be the fame with one mentioned by captain Forreji,- p. 140, who-
fàys that the Alfoories, or inhabitants o f the mountains in Mixoal,
ihoot thefe birds, and fell them to the people o f Tidore.

places a fmaji bird in its claws, fo one may conclude it to be a
rapacious fpecies, but it is a molt elegant kind ; the long feathers'
fpringing from the lhoulder are belt exprefled in the figure
given in Les Pianehes Enluminées a in Mr. Sonnerat they- are left
quiefcent.

the others, yet each feather on the- hedd' aiid- body appears
curled at the edges. The eolof is5 that of" datnalked iteel,-re-
fiedting blue, green, ahdpurplei The' feathers in the bird de--
ffcribed by Mr. Sdnrterat, lie quite clbfe on each- o th e r le n g th
fixteen inches.

gold color;: throat o f a velvet black; edge of the wings
and tail black.
