Upper Bm-ma, banks of the Moganng river, collected b y GnfBth in September 18.3,.
This species i . characterised by the one-flowered spikelets (like the 1 orak B Wruy,,
Stapf), b y the palea having glabrous keels, b y the very soft hollow rachis, and by the
long-fringed leaf auricles. It has only been once found, but it may be hoped, now
that the Mogaung valley is becoming better known, tliat it may soon be «discovered.
Specimens received from Bm-ma, from the Kyaukshat Forest, Tenasscrnn, m 1801, by
n L e Wamjeus (Bunnese), have somewhat similar leaves, but they are more rounded
and much longer petioled; then, the rachis is solid, and although the flowers are only in
the early bud sta"-e, there is enough to show that they are quite different and have
ciliated paleas. It is not clear why Kura transferred this species to Dendreealamus.
Griflith, in his Journal, p. 00, refers to it as a •• Bambusa, vaginis cello barbatis."
