Very little is known of tin, plant except the original sheets in the Kew Herbarium.
But I believe I am nght in identifying with it No. 1001 cellected by G. Mann in
1S91 at Ohardnar in the Durring district of Assam, though the spikclels are not quite
so long, and the rachis not so soft and fistular as in the type. I also tliink that

says It IS a sott-eulmed kind easily attacked by insects, and consequently not much

The very long smooth spikelet, bifid palea, long lodicules and remarkable ligule

account of the character of the spikclets, though the culm-slieaths are not known.
