
 
        
         
		As  far  as  I  know,  the  type  of  the  genus  Loliginites  Quenstedt,  
 1849,  has  never  been  designated.  In  order  to  perpetuate  N aef' s  
 interpretation  of  this  genus,  L.  coriaceus  Quenstedt,  1849,  is  here  
 selected as such. This species is not congeneric with those assigned to  
 Geoteuthis  by N a e f,  and  therefore Q u e n s t e d  t ’s  name  is  not  
 available  for  the  genus  dealt with  here. 
 As  none  of  the  generic  names  hitherto  used  for  species  which  
 belong  to Geoteuthis  Naef nec Münster  appears  to be  available  for  
 the present genus,  the new name Geopeltis is here proposed.

 2507,  2508  damaged  gladius  with  ink-sac  and  efferent  duct;  a  
 close examination of the lines of growth of the fragmentary gladius  
 revealed that  this specimen belongs to the present  species;  ?  2515,  
 2516  ink-sac  with  fragments  of  gladius;  labelled:  “Dintenbeutel  
 eines  Cephalopoden” ;  2517  damaged  gladius  with  ink-sac;  identified  
 in the same way as nos.  2507, 2508;  ?  2520 ink-sac with fragments  
 of  gladius.
