In common with Morton we were always
at a loss to account for the, presence of
two white races in Rosellini’s copy of
this tableau. It turns out that an error of
coloring on the part of the Tuscan artists
was the unique cause of such perplexities
; because they have tinted this figure
light flesh-color, instead of tawny yellow.
