ovate, emarginate at both base and apex. Gall flowers with or without a very short gamophyllous
perianth which sma-oimds the base of the pedicel of the obovatc, smooth ovary •
the style very short, lateral; stigma slightly dilated. Fertile female flowers with perianth
like the galls; the achenc broad, rhomboid, rough.

A very remarkable species, very distinct from every other Ooiidlia by its enormous
mueh-branched clusters of long-pedunclcd receptacles, which are either wholly or partially
bnried m the soil. The leaves resemble those of Impida, Linn, fll., bat are thinner in texture
and more setose. Like those of iùpila, the leaves dry of a dull green colour.
