Peesoon, after describing this I'helephora as a distinct
species in his Tentamen Dispositionis Methodica; Fungorum,
became doubtful, in the Synopsis Fungorum, whether it might
not be a variety of Thelephora calcea; but in his recent My-
cologia Europasa, he again considers it as distinct. In the mean
time, between the publication of the Synopsis and the Myco-
logia. F r ie s named it Thelephora cretaeea, in his Observa-
tiones Mycologicie, and observed that it was “ vere distincta
species.” Yet I cannot find it mentioned in any way in the
Systema Myeologicum of that author.
