XLI. Government of Irkuzk,
The largefl and leait peopled government in R'uffia, com-
prifes all the eailern part of Siberia, from the Northern Ocean
to the frontiers of Chinefe Tartary, and from the boundaries of
the government of Tobollk to the Eailern Ocean. This large
territory was gradually conquered and appropriated by the Ruffians
in their delultory excurfions from Tobolik.
It is divided into the four provinces of Irkutzk, Nertihiulk,
Yakutik, and Okotzk.
Province of Irkutzk,
Contains 4 diitrids.
1 . Irkutzk , on the Angara, oppoiite to the mouth o f the r iv er Irkut.
2. Kirenik, on the-Lena, above the mouth o f the Kirenga.
3. Nlihnie-U d inik , on the river Uda, falling into the Upper T un gu fk a .
4. Verkhne i-Ved inik , on the river V e c la , falling into the Selenga.
