Divided into' two provinces, Aftracan and Caucafus, but not
yet fubdivided into diftrids.
Aftracan was conquered from the Tartars, in 1552, by Ivan
Vaffilievitch.
Province of Caucafus,
Will compriie the Cuban, and all that diftrid to the eaft and
fouth, now in the poifeifion of Ruifia, between the rivers Don
and Cuban, and between the Cafpian and the. Euxine, extending
as far as the confines of Georgia, and continually augmenting
by the redudion and fubmiffion of the wandering hordes of
Mount Caucafus.
