•WARBOW.—A smnll settlement on the coast, a sbort distance
inland from Coffin's Bay, about 32 miles uortli-west from Port
Lincoln. Tlie distiict is a pastoi-al one.
WASLEY'S.—Sitnated about 7 mUos from tlie left bank of the
Kiver Light, and distant, north fi'oni Adelaide, 36 miles. The land
is of a fertile nature, and is settled upon for agricnltui-al purposes,
wheat and cei-eals generally, being the principal products, The
North Railway Line passes through it, furnishing the means of
eommunication with the metropolis. Population, luider -^0.
WATERLOO. - Nt-ar the source of the River Light, about 0
miles north-east from Saddleworth, and 4 miles east from Manoora
Railway Station, It lies about 65 miles north-north-east from
Adelaide. A considerable amount of settlement has taken place ia
the district for agricultural purposes, wheat-growing being tbe
principal industi-y. Population, 118.
W A T E R VALE. -Si tua t e d on a small stream of' the same
name, about 12 miles north-west from Saddleworth Railway Station,
and 66 miles north from Adelaide. The district is both pastoral and
agricultural in character. Populatrion, 157.
" WATIKARIN-GA.—Xoar one of the sources of Yan
about 40 miles north-east ft'om Walloway Railway Station,
miles north-uorth-easfc from Adelaide, The district is n
one, some of the country included witbin it being of an i
nature.

WAURALTEE.—Waumltee, n postal township in Yorke's
Peninsula, is situated neai' the eastern shore of Spencer Gulf, about
2ti miles west-south-west from Port Ardrossan, and 70 miles westnorth
west, in a direct line, from Adelaide. Wlieat^growing is
carried on throughout the district. Population, 03.
W B L I I N G T C N . — O n the right bank of the ì tuna y River,
near the point where the waters of thnt stream enter Lake Alexandriua,
about 28 miles east-south-east from Strathalbyn Railway
Station. The district is largely pastoi-al in charactev. Popularion, 85.
WILLASTON.—Near the right bank of the Gawler River,
about one mile north from Gawler Railway Station, Wlieat, barley,
oats, and hay are among the principal products of the locality.
Population, 209,
WILLIAMSTOWN.—Situated on Victoria Creek, about
miles sonth-east from Gawler Railway Station, and 24 miles northeast,
in a direct line, from Adelaide. The district is both pastoral
and agricultural. ^Vheat-growing is a prominent industry in the
locality. The surrounding country is, to some extent, gold-bearing.
Population, 158.
WILLTTNGA.—A postal towusliip, sitnated about 2.5 miles
south from Adelaide, and 6 miles inland ft-om the waters o£ St.
Vincent Gulf. A fow miles to the east lies the mountain chain
which, rising near Cape Jerns, is known farther north as the Mount
Lofty Rango. Wheat and other cereals are among tbe ])rincipftl
products of the surrounding country. Population, 351.
' WILMINGTON.—Ne a r the source of Beautiful Valley Ci-eek,
a short distance to the south-east of Horrock's Pass, and about 22
miles south-east from Port Augusta. The mountains in the vicinity
separate the streams flowing east into Willochra Creek, from those
which run west and empty their waters into Spencer Gulf. The
district is, to a large extent, a pastoral one. Population, 250.
WIBBABARA.—Situated ou the Rocky River, about 19
miles north-east fi-om Port Pirie, and 130 miles north from Adelaide.
The country aronnd is settled upon both for agricultural and pastoral
pnii>oses. From the extensive natural forests in the vicinity, lai-ge
quantities of timber are obt-ained. Tho mean annual rainfall is about
19 inches. Population, 15(5.
WISTOW.—A postal to\vnship, situated within 3 miles of tho
rigbt bank of Mount Barker Creek, a tributarj- of the Bremer River,
about 21 miles south-east from Adelaide. The situation is elevated,
and commands extensive views of the surrounding couutiy. Tho
district is both agricultural and pastoral,
WOOSCHESTEB.—iiii u small tributary of tho Bremer
River, about 6 miles nortb-east from Strathalbyn, and 20 miles
south-east, in a direct line, from Adelaide. The settlement has
arisen iu connection with tho cultivation of the soil. Population, 88,
WOODSIDE.—Woodside is situated on the Onkaparinga
River, about 4 miles north-east from Balhannah, and I " miles east
from Adelaide. Tho surrounding country is auriferous in character,
being intersected in various parts Mth ciuartz reefs. Jfuch of the
fertile, and is settled upon for agi-icultural pui-poses.

from Snowtown Railway Station. Wbeat-gi'owing is followed, to
some extent, by the settlers in the surrounding country. Population,

ft'om the waters of St. Vincent Gulf, and 40 miles south from Adelaide.
The settlers in tho district are chiefly engaged iu gro\ring wheat
and other cei-eals, The exports from the port for the year 1884,
i-epi-esented a value o£ .4(3,111. The mean annual rainfall is about
28 inches. Population, 376,
YARANDALE.—Yarandale is a small postal township on a
tributary of Salt Creek, an unimportant stream, the waters of which
flow into Harvey's or Tumby Bay. It lies about 4 miles inland from
the western shore of Spencer Gulf, and is distant north-east from
Port Lincoln, about 34 miles. Some of the land in the vicinity is
suited to agriculture.
YARCOWIE.—(In the Northern Railway Line, about 20 miles
south from Petersbnrgh, and 133 miles north fi'om Adelaide, The
snn-ounding country possesses some elevation, being over 1,700 feet
above the level of tho sea. Population, 158,
Y A T I N A .— Situated about 0 miles north-west from Pete«-
burgb Railway Station. Wheat-growing is followed by the settlers
in the surrounding country. Population, 80.
YONGALA.—1 111 the Port Pirie Railway Line, about 6 miles
south-west from Petersburgh. The country around is comparatively
elevated, being nearly 1,700 feet above the level of the sea. Wheatgrowing
is extensively followed by the settlers in the district. Population,
353.
Y O R K E TOWN.—This township is situated in tho south
part of Yorke's Peninsula, about 9 miles north-west from Port
Edithburgh. From the small lakes in the neighbourhood, salt of a
very good quality is obtained. The manufacture of this article is a
prominent industry, and will tend to increase the im))ortance of the
settlement. Population, 340,
