Seta terminal. Peristome double; the exterior of 16 teeth; the interior of
a membrane divided into 16 segments, mostly alternating with filiform
processes. Calyptra dimidiate.

B ry um d em issum ; caule perbrevi ramoso; foliis ovatis cuspidate-acuminatis,
reticulatis, neno excurrente; seta arcuata; theca curvato-pyrformi, pen-
dula— (Hook).
Br. stem very short, branched; leaves ovate, cuspidato-acuminate, reticulated,
the nerve excurrent; seta arched; theca curved and pyriform,
pendulous.

Plant grow in g in small tufts. Stems 1-5 lines long, w ith a few simple
branches arising from th e ir base in a subfasciculate manner. Leaves
imbricated, slig h tly concave, yellowish-green, red d ish a t th e base, ovato-
acuminate, th e apex almost piliferous, m a rg in entire, re tic u la te d w ith
ra th e r large, oblong c ellu les ; nerve ra th e r strong, o f a red d ish colour,
e x current. Seta l _ | o f an inch in le n g th , rem a rk ab ly curved a t th e
top. Theca pendulous, oblong-pyriform, curved, yellowish-brown, w ith
a very small mouth n o t exactly situated a t th e apex. Operculum sh o rtly
conical. Ext. Peristome composed o f 16 a cum inated te e th , th e ir
lower h a lf o f a fine p in k colour. Int. Peristome o f c iliary processes,
irreg u la rly cancellated. Sporules g re en , globose, u n ited in threes.
