 and obscurely  denticulate;  and the  peduncles are shorter than the  
 leaves.  This specimen more nearly resembles L. attenuata than the  
 present plant. 
 The drawing from  which the  engraving has been made, was  designed  
 from  specimens  obtained  from  the  western  shores  of  the  
 Delaware, near this  city, in which  places it appears  to be frequent,  
 though not  easily found,  owing  to  its  growing  amidst the  roots  of  
 various larger plants.
