than one species, are exactly intermediate; and Rcestelia itselt
is by no means constant to its character. The genus Cceoma of
L in k and N e e s v o n E s e n b e c k , which includes JEcidium,
Uredo, and part of Puccinia, is too comprehensive, as it unites

the rank of true genera.
This beautiful species was discovered on Ben Voirlich by
Mr P a t t e k s o n , in one of Dr H o o k e r ’s excursions to Ben
Lomond and the neighbouring mountains in 1821; since which
time I have received a specimen from Mr A r n o t t , gathered
by Mr M a c r i t c h i e in the Highlands.
