Before the Expedition left England, Dr. AVilliam Stirling
resigned his appointment as Naturalist ; and Dr. Eudolf von
AAMlemoës-Suhm, Privat-Docent in Zoology in the University
of Munich, was appointed hy the Admiralty in his place, on tlie
recommendation of the Council of the Eoyal Society.
