Female.—Only differs from the male in having a duller plumage, and in the feathers
of the auricular region being bluish white.

The original specimens of this Barbet still remain unique in the Paris Museum, and
we have been obliged to translate the original description of M. Verreaux. The figure in
the Plate has also been drawn from the illustration in the ' Archives,' enlarged to the scale
of the other Barbets by Mr. Keulemans.
