the immediate direction o f Ras Michael, and had apprehends
ed many o f thofe noblemen o f Tigre who had revolted againff
the Ras, particularly Guebra Denghel, married to Ras Mis
chael’s grand-daughter, defcended from one o f the- nobleft
houfes in the province, and a man particularly diftinguiflied?
for generality, opennefs, and affability o f manners; and'
Sebaat Laab and Kefla Mariam, m en o f great Confideration in?
Michael’s province. Confu and Sanuda having joined, entered
Gondar, and took poffeffion o f the k in g ’s houfe, and;

In the mean time the unfortunate Socinios continued
his flight, in company with the queen, till they came to
the
the borders o f Kuara, her native country. Thofe who
made Socinios a k in g had, never made him a friend. It
was here fuggelled, that his prefence would infallibly oc~
eafion a purfuit which might endanger the queen, her
country, and ah her friends. Upon this it was refolyed to-
abandon the unworthy Socinios to the foldiers, who ftript
him naked, giv ing him only a rag to cover him, and a
good horfe, and with thefe they difmiffed him to leek his
fortune.
