elliptic, shortly acuminate, the base cuneate, the edges entire or with a few minute distant
irregular teeth; both sui-facos quite glabrous, the upper dull; the lower leticulate; the
nerres and midrib distinct on the lower surface, the latter with 2 boLl, asccuding, curved
nerves vising from its base and ruuniog more than half way to the apex, a small pair
occasionally rising outside and below these and running close to the raargio of tha base
of the leaf; the midrib giving o3 above its middle 3 or 4 pairs of curving, lateral nerves ;
length 9—20 cm., breadth 4—ly cm.; petioles very various in leogfch ( f r om 4 cm. to 15 cm.)
very shnder •, panicles axillary, slender, from 10 to 15 cm. long, with few umbellate branches,
the alternate umbels with 4 or 5 sab-globular flowers 4, mm. in diam.; theii- pedicels

A perennial, glabrous, scapigerous herb ; stem 0, or up to 8 dm. high, sparingly
branched from the base; branches angular, grooved, leafy below; leaves -5 to 1-5 dm.
long by 3 to 10 mm., sessile, ^-amplexicaul, linear or ligulate, tapering to a mucronate
point, entire or obscurcly toothed, covered with minuto raised points and pellucid-punctato ;
margin pale, thickened ; veins parallel to the sbnder midrib ; heads 2—3 cm, in
diam., usually solitary at the naked ends of the branches; involucre hracts 1—2 cm.
long, adpressed, glabrous; outer ovate, acuminate; inner linear-lanceolate, with erect
flesuous tips; receplacle bristles many, longer than the achenes; corolla 1-5 cm. long, lightpurple,
lower portion of tube very slender; filaments papillose; ackenes 6 mm. long, oblong
compressed, truncate, many-ribbed ; basal aroole very oblique ; tip rather dilated ; pappus

"An anomalous plant, -with the habit and involucre of Sevatula, and the pappus of Jurinea;
the achene is, liowever, quite that of Trivholepü tibetica, and different from that of other species of
the genus, with which, liowever, it agrees in the leaves having raised points (whenca the name
Stictophyllum Edgeworth)."

the base of the stems, dark-green and somewhat scabrous above, clothed beneath
with white cottony pubescence ; lower 10—12 cm. long by 3—5 cm. wide, lyratcpinnatifid
; upper smaller, lanceolate, acute, dentate ; heads in terminal corymbs,
or solitary in the axils of the much reduced upper leaves, erect or somewhat
inclined, 2-5 cm. long and about 2 cm. across, tapering to the base ; involucre
hracts glabrous, tinged with purple; outer ovate, acute; inner lanceolate, acuminate;
corolla 15 mm. in length, slender, pale-purple ; anther-tails lacerate ; receptacle densely
b r i s t l y ; pappus white, shorter than the corolla; outer bristles 0 ; ackenes 3 mm. long,
smooth, 10-ribbed, crowned by a toothed cup.
N.-W. FEONTIEE: near Drosh, at an elevation of about 6,000 feet; found by
Inayat Khan, one of the plant collectors of the Botanical Department of N, Lidia,
during the Chitral Relief Expedition of 1895 (Herb. No. 16273).
Allied to S. candieans Chu-ke, but with broader and quite glabrous involucre-bracts,
and smaller very differently shaped head.

An epiphytic shrub, the branches adpressed-pubei-ulous and at the same time beset
with setaceous spreading hairs; leaves sessile, ovate-lanceolate, gradually narrowino- from
a rounded base to a moderately long acuminate tip, margin entire, firmly coriaceous.
