While assuming the winter garb, the rust-colour is of course more
or less intermingled with the blackish brown.
The young have the eye-streak w h i t e ; forehead, white; crown, blackish
brown, b o r d e r e d with greyish white; neck in front, w h i t e ; on the back,
greyish white, with streaks of a deeper tint; throat and breast above,
yellowish g r e y , below white; back, light brown, with a glossy reflection,
t h e feathers margined with white and reddish white, w i t h greyish ashcoloured
feathers more or less intermixed. Tail, grey, margined with
white; upper and under tail coverts, white.
