NOTE.—While this work was in the press I discovered that the name Taba7tus perplexus had been
used by Walker (i860, Insecta Saundersiana, Diptera 1, p. 32) for a species from Colombia. I therefore
propose that T. perplexus Verrall (1909) be renamed T verraili.
