T h e Mouth feems placed1 in the breaft.-r—T h e
Eyes are brown and oblong, being fituated at the
upper-part near the extremity of-the head there is
alfo a little eye placed between them on the under-
iide, a circumftance obfervable in all thofe whpfe
heads are ihaped like this.— T h e Antenna are the
length of.the head, and ihaped like a three edged
fword.— T h e Thorax is prettily ftriped with green,
brown, and white.-;—T h & Abdomen is light brown,
and ftreaked with black at top, but on the fides is
white.— T h e Wing-Cafesare o f a light fand-
colour; having in the middle a narrow longitudinal
line, indented with green and black.:— T h e
Wings are tranfparent,. and prettily dappled ; being
o f a beautiful red colour next the body,r that leffens
and becomes fainter as it approaches the diik of the
wings.— T h e hinder Legs are long,, and formed
for leaping j the others are ihort.-— T h e Shins are
well furniihed with iharp fpines,. that afiift the
infetft in climbing up the plants, &c. where they

This infe£i is very fingularly Jhaped, being exceeding
thin and fiat in proportion to its breadth.
T h e Head is triangular.:— T h e Antenna are
about one-fourth the length o f the infedf; the
extremities being a little thicker than the other
parts.-—T h e Eyes are fmall and round.— It i|||
furniihed with a Beak that extends to the middle
o f the abdomen. A ll the-parts exhibited in the
plate are o f a fandy olive colour, and ferve as a
ihield or covering to the thorax, abdomen, legs,
(Ac. which are hid beneath it.-—T h e Efcutcheon is
large and triangular.— T h e Wing-Cafes are entirely
opake and fmall, not covering the abdomen by a
confiderable
