IT S Weight was forty feven Ounces; Length from
the Tip of the Bill to^ the End of the Tail twenty
three Inches; Breadth, when the Wings were expanded,,
thirty four Inches: It is the Colour of a Woodcock, but
darker, of a rediih brown, intermixed with tranfverfe
Lines of black; the Chin yellowiih white ; the Breaft and
Belly had a Mixture of yellow, brown, and black tranf-
verfe Lines, which made it appear hoary and higher
coloured than the upper Side. It had a large white
Spot on the fcapular Part of the Wings, in each of which
were twenty fix beam Feathers; the exteriour Webs of a.
yellowiih white, as was alfo the exteriour Webs of the
firft Row of Coverts ; the under Side of the Wings white..
The Tail coniifts of iixteen Feathers, the outmoft
fomewhat longer than the reft, but not fo much refletiled
as thole in the Cock, and is of the fame Colour of
