Chlamyiodera Imiterhacld, Reiohenow, Orn. Monatsb. v. p. 21 (1897).—Id. J. f. O. 1897, p. 21.5, pi. vi.
Tins fine species, wliicb I have not seen myself, but wliich Mr, Hartert informs me is a true Chlanvjdodera,
was discovered by Lauterbacb on the Jaijei River, a tributary of the Rarau lliver in German New Guinea.
It has been figured by Dr. Reicheiiow (/. c.), and is evidently quite distinct from all the other species
of the genus. Whether the egg on which Dr. Meyer founded his C. recondita m\\ ultimately be discovered
to belong to C. ImUerhacIu is a problem with which we need not trouble ourselves at present.
The following is a translation of Dr. lleichenow's original description :—

upper part of the body, upper tail-coverts, aud lesser wiug-coverts olive-brown, with yellowish edgings

yellow, striated with brown, each feather having a pale yellow shaft-stripe and brown margins ; centre

There is no specimen of C. lauterbadii in England, the type being unique in the Berlin Museum, so I
have been unable to give a figure of the species.
