THE villous-leaved Wachendorfia is not enumerated in Professor Willdenow's new edition of Species
Plantarum, and appears to be a new species. It is very closely allied to W . hirsuta, but differs sufficiently
from that species in the shape of the leaves. It is likewise extremely near akin to W . gramijiea,
which; however, is destitute of all pubescence, whilst ours is pubescent all over. Its flowers are
yellow, like those of hirsuta and paniculata; it rises to tlie height of a foot and a half, prospers witli
the usual treatment of Cape Bulbs; and was communicated to us in flower, in June last, by
W. Anderson, botanic gardener to J. Vere, Esq. Kensington Gorej where it flowers in great perfection,
and increases pretty readily by the roots.
