winter, where they flew 230 fea-otters; and having
built a fmall veflel out of the remains of the wreck, they
put to fea in the beginning of fummer 1760. They
had fcarcely reached one of the Aleutian iflands, where
Serebranikoff’s veflel lay at anchor, when they were again
lhipwrecked, and loft all the remaining tackle and furs.
Only thirteen of the crew now remained, who returned
on hoard the above-mentioned veflel to Kamtchatka July
1751-

Voyages in 1758, 1759, and 1760— to the Fox Iflands—
in the St. Vladimir,fitted out by Trapefnikofl-— and in the
Gabriel, ^y'Betflievin— ’The latter under the command of

rnot-ejl Eaflern Iflands hitherto vijited— Some account of
its inhabitants, and produSlions, which latter are different

SEPTEMBER 1758, the merchant Simeon Krafil-V°v»recft1«
nikoff and Nikiphor Trapefnikoff fitted out two
for the purpofe of catching fea-otters. One of thefe veffels,
called the St. Vladimir, failed the 28th underthecom- 1C)
mand of Demetri Paikoff, carrying on board the Coflac Sila
Shaffyrin as colleiftor of the tribute, and a crew of fortyfive
men. In twenty-four hours they reached Beering’s
Iftand, where they wintered. July 16, 1759,. they
fleered towards the South in order to dilbover land, but
being difappointed, they bore away to the North for the
Aleutian Ifles: being prevented however by contrary
winds from reaching them, they failed ftreight towards
the diftant iflands, which are known at prefent under
the name of Lyflie Oftrova or the Fox Iflands. Septem- Am-ai at the
