Bougainville, and Captain Cook, it would, at fir ft fight,
feem fuperfluous to add any thing ; as it m igh r be fuppofed,
that little'could be now produced, but a repetition o f what
has been told before. I am, however,, fa r from b eing o f '
that opinion ; and w ill venture to affirm, though a ve ry accurate
defcription o f the country, and o f the moft obvious
cuftoms o f its inhabitants, has been already given, efpe-
cia lly b y Captain Cook, that much ftill remain» untouched
that, in fome inftances, miftakes have been made, which
