w hich made it neceffary to tack and Hand o ff till four the’
next morning, when I ventured to Hand in again.
At four in the afternoon, we faw the land, which, at fix I „
extended from North Eaft half'Eaft, to South Eaft by South,’
about eight leagues diftant. In this fituation, we tacked and
foun ded; but a line o f a hundred and fixty fathoms did not
reac t the ground. I flood o ff till midnight, then flood in wed„ef. „ .
