Adult male (JIakalaka Country).—Forehead silvery white; crown pale brownish, intermixed
with white; nape and hind neck pale orange-buff; upper parts generally, including the upper
surface of the wings and tail, rich parrot>green, slightly tinged with bluish green ; inner primaries
slightly and secondaries (excepting the elongated innermost ones) broadly terminated with deep
black; upper and under tail-coverts and erissum deep cobalt-blue; lores and a broad stripe
passing through and behind the eye deep black; chin and a broad stripe below the black stripe
pure white; throat bright scarlet; rest of the undcrparte warm golden buff, becoming blue on
the lower abdomen; biB and legs blackish; iris red. Total length about 86 inches,eulmen 105,
wing 4/G, tail 3*85, tarsus 0"58.
