Juv. adulto similis, sed gulâ, fronte ct jugulo viridibus.
Admit male (Malacca).—Upper parts generally rich deep parrot-green ; fore part of the crown
to about the centre of the head of a beautiful lilac-pink colour ; wings and tail rather darker
than the back ; quills with the inner margin and tip blackish, the shafts black ; feathers covering
the nostrils and a small spot on the cliin and base of cheeks pale greenish blue ; remainder of
chin and the elongated feathers on the throat deep vermilion-red, the latter with dark green
centres ; ear-coverts and sides of neck of the same colour as the back ; rest of underparts
pale green, with grcenisk-whitc centres to the feathers ; under surface of wings at the base pale
ochreous buff; under surface of tail yellow, broadly terminated with black, and the outer feather
on each side externally black ; bill black, greenish at base of lower mandible ; legs bluish leadgrey
; iris red. Total length about 10 inches, culmen 2-2, wing 5-0, tail 4'7B, tarsus 0G.
