D escription.— H ead short. Muzzle ro u n d ed . E y e s p rom in en t. T o n g u e th ick , slightly h e a rt-
shaped, scarcely n o tch e d on th e posterior m argin. P a la tin e te e th p rom in en t, in two oval
groups, converging backwards. T ym p an um ra th e r small, perfec tly ro u n d , conspicuous. P a ro
tid glands distinc t. Body th ick a n d broad, w ith small g landular tubercles dispersed over
th e surface, p a rticula rly a t th e a n te rio r p a rt. L um b a r glands extremely large , elliptic-ovate,
flat. L eg s o f m oderate len g th , ra th e r robust. A n te rio r toes separated, ex c ep tin g a t th e b a s e ;
a small tuberc le u n d e r ea ch jo in t, a n d several very small ones on th e p a lm ; h in d e r toes u n ited
to ab o u t h a lf th e ir le n g th , an d b o rd e red on each side to th e e x trem ity ; metata rsal tubercles
p rom in e n t; soles o f th e h in d e r fe e t w ith man y m in u te tubercles.
C o lo u r.— T h e u p p e r surface o f th is species is o f a b rownish g re y colour, sometimes greenish
brown o r dark olive, an d with numerous irre g u la r spots o f dark-brown or black. T h ig h s and
legs with fasci® o f th e same colour. B en e a th yellowish w h ite ; in some w ith numerous blackish
dots u n d e r th e throat.
