This specimen very much resembies in its more tangible characters, the P r.
tenuis: from which, however, it ditfers totally in the colouring, and in some measure
also in the general form, which is more thick and robust.

D e sc r ip t io n .— G e n era l form resembling th a t o f P r . pictus an d cijanogaster. H e a d m odera tely
short, obtuse, covered w ith ra th e r large slightly convex scales; a single row o f scales between
th e labial an d th e orbitar. T h e an te rio r margin o f th e ea r has a single tooth. T h e temples
a n d th e sides o f th e neck are covered with imbricated scales, which have no c a rin a— those o f
th e neck, especially those on th e fold o f th e skin are smaller an d more ra ised th an th e others.
T h e scales o f th e back are ra th e r large, rhomboidal, with a d istin c t carina, term in atin g in a
p oint. Those o f th e abdomen an d sides are all o f th em en tire a t th e margin. T h e posterior
surface o f th e thighs is wholly granular.
T h e only specimen obtained b ein g a female, th e n um b er o f pre -an a l pores is n o t known.
T h e gene ral colour o f th is species is brownish grey ; a black lo ngitudina l line ru n s down
