* Mr. Ogilvie Grant’s work on the Game-Birds is so thoroughly well done, that it
is seldom that I differ from any of his conclusions ; but I think that Mr. Oates (Man.
Game-Birds of India, pt. i. p. 258) is right as regards the nomenclature of the Moonal
Pheasants, and I agree with him that, although Latham does hot notice the white
back in his description, it is unlikely that he ever saw the Chamba Moonal.
