Caftle of Vcmftein, one of the Barriers of Tyrol, built on the Edge of a fteep Rock, at the Foot of wliidl
runs the Torrent Klans. The Mountain at tlie Back of tlie Bridge is called Lorea; it is calcareous and
covered with Trees. Moiint Vanech the higheft Peak; at tlie foot of which are tlie Mines of Fengenftain,
in the Environs of NaiTcreit. The Bafe of this Mountain, is a" Species of lamellated hom-ftone. Sigmiindiburg,
an ancicnt Caftle, flanked with four round Towers, feated on a Rock nearly in the Center
of tlie Lake. The Rock appears like large Stones heaped one upon anotlier. The Mountains, in the
Back Ground, covered witli Snow, are Part of the Chain called Mundc.

EHRENBERG BARRIER.
Mount Xlans Wald is on the left, and nearly perpendicular. The River Lcch mns to tlie weft of this
Mountain. In the Center are Mounts Panondum and Sanereck on the Confines of Bavaria. Ehrenberg
Caftle, at tiie Foot of which the Road pafles through a Defile ftrongly fortified. The diftant Mountains
are in Bavaiia, and always covered witli iiiow. On the right is a Convent of Friars.

CATARJCr OF THE LECH.
High Road from Infpruck to FulTen, in Swabia, wliich is on a rapid Defcent from the Schwage, a Hill
compofed of huge Pieces of Granite, which decompofe eafdy, although the adjacent Mountains are moftly
calcareous. The Crofs ferves as a Limit between the County of Tyrol, and tlie Biihopric of Augfljourg.
Cataraft of the Lech, which appears to have forced its Way through tlie Rock, that forms a Kind of
Cavern. The diftant Mountain is Ogl, in Bavaria. The others are Sdling and Durn, on the Borders
of Tyrol.
