three, nearly upright, and spreading.

SPECIFIC CHARACTER.
JxiA foliis falcatis ; floribus alternis, tri-coloribus
: caule humili.
Habitat ad Caput Bonae Spei.
IXIA with scimitar-shaped leaves : flowers altercate,
and three-coloured. Stem low.
Native of the Cape of Good Hope.

THIS new species of Ixia was delineated from a plant in the collection of J. Vere, esq. the summer before
last, and although low in stature is certainly high in beauty, and surpassed by very few of loftier
growth. It flowers about the middle of April, and requires the same treatment as most other Cape
species.
