 T H  E  Rev.  Mr.  Relhan  firit  obferved  this  fpecies  in  
 England.  It  is  moil  common,  late  in  the  winter  and  
 early  in  fpring,  on  the  decayed  ftalks  of  herbage,  
 particularly  nettles,  under  hedges  by  the  fides  of  
 ditches,  See.

 I  FIND  this  moit  common  in  Kenfington  Gardens  
 in  damp  places  on  rotten  pieces  of  timber,  the  lower  
 part  immerfed  in  the  remains  of  the  bark  or  in  the  
 wood.  The  cylindrical  mouths  are  vifible  to  the  
 naked  eye  like  little  bundles  of  hair.  The  adjacent  
 wood  is  fometimes  ftained  with  black.
