leaves from broadly ovate, sub-acuminate to nearly orbicular,

This is altogether a larger plant than the former, and
a very distinct species—Ballaghaut hills, near Madras.

upper surface of a leaf magnified, to show the hairs and
a tuft of.hair—15-16 under suriace and hairs.
The p ace which this genus ought to occupy in the natural
sy stem,- does not seem well determined. Hitherto,
it h a s been referred to Verbenacetn, but I think there is
much reason to doubt the propriety of this distribution.
To me it seëins probable that this and Congiu Roxb. will
unite to form a small b u t‘.very distinct order, but whose
affinities I have not yet.fpadeout. fy
