F o r wards on the neck, breaft, fide^ and belly,; they are an inch ;and a half or; ,two inches long;i ; LOn the ridge of the neck, and fo on all along-tjbat of the back, they are three or four inches' in length, fo as ,to form a kind of mane .there, terminating in. a tail about a finger’^ jbreadth long. On the hind part o f the thighs and .buttocks l.ikewife, the hairs; are eight inches long; the legs and feet are ilender, and covered with fliort hairs; the fetlock-joints are fmall; the nofe and under-lip are decorated with, black whiikers about an inch long. The predominant colour in this animal is dark-brown, which occupies the principal part of the fides, the back, the upper part of the tail, the upper part of the cheft and fore ribs, and the fore part of the belly. A ftill darker brown, bordering upon black, is difcoverable on the outfide of the ihoulders, and fome part of the fore ribs. The fore part of the nofe,’ from the eyes to the muzzle, is of a foot- colour. The ears are likewife as black as foot on the outiide, but on the iniide g re y ; and both outwards and inwards, covered:with hairs ftill ihorter than thofe on the head; excepting half the fore part o f the lower edge, where the hairs are white and half an inch long. The edges o f the upper lip are white, as well as the whole of the lower lip and mandible, behind which the w;hite colour terminates in a point towards the top of the wind pipe. On each cheek- bone there are two large round round white fpots, one an inch beneath arid behind thé eye; ¡fjjjjB the other an* inch below and fofriewhat- forwarder' than the former. A ftill larger round white'fpot, two inches broad, is- difeoverable on the fore part of the neck, femewliât "below the-top’h f ih ’éL'sfànd--pipey Nine inches ! below this; juft above the fore ribs,ithereYsiànother white fpot,' meafur- irig fix inched Mcrofs, -‘àïid- an inch arid a half in height. This,1: in the ikih Of the foetu's 1 fpoke of, was fomewhat hollowed ' out,; and thus reièmbled a new moon; but in this Ikiri, the- upper round fpot, juft defcribed as beuig-on the fore-’ part-of ¡the Peek, was not to be feen. The fur o f this creature is', moreover, white between its fore legs, and fomewhat 011 the fides o f the ihoulders. The fore legs, ¡from-the knees to the patterns, are likewife white« on the infide and where* it borders upon the brown part, inclines- to a dirty yellow. -On the outfide of the fore legs, near the knees,'1 there is a long oval white fpot; and on the fame iidri, juft: above the paftern-joint, there is a little cinnamon-coloured fpot. The hind legs, on the iniide, from the patterns to a little way above the bending o f ¡the knees,: are triarkëd with a white ftrCak narrower than thofe on the fore legs. The patterns of -the hind 'legs are fpotted with white on the fore parts,¡¡exaétly like thofe of the fore legs. The back part of the belly or the groin is white. 1 Divers fmall white fpots, from nine to ¡twelve in all, are feen on each o f the haunches and on thé fides -near them, f A'narrow liné of -long white hairs-extends from the neck, all along the back and tail,, in' the midft of' the long brown hairs which I have defcribed abovè; !
